Flourite
AGE: Unspecified. Yuuko has stated that Fay has already lived much longer than Kurogane, and it is remarked that there is an aged wisdom in his eyes, the type that comes only from having lived so long and seen so much. Fay's magical nature slows his aging process, lengthening his life-span, I've always pegged him being around 65 years (he is also a vampire, this however has neither slowed or accelerated his aging due to his magic already having done so).
FANDOM: Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle
TIMELINE PERIOD: Infinity arch. Post Ashura's awakening, but pre curse activation.
CANON LINK: Fay's Wikipedia Page

PERSONALITY: At the start of the series Fay was this happy-go-lucky, extremely laid back and enigmatic guy, but as the series progressed we learned more about Fay, and we began seeing the little slips and cracks in this perfect mask he always made sure to wear. Initially he was this extroverted and bubbly character so that other people wouldn't have to worry about him, wouldn't ask questions, but as Fay grew more familiar with his travelling companions he slowly began to feel comfortable and was genuinely happy to be with them. He cared for them, forgetting that one day he may even be faced with the decision of having to kill one of them, as he had promised Fei Wong Reed all those years ago, agreeing to be his puppet, because no price could be too high if it meant he could be with his brother again.

Or so Fay had thought. Living with the guilt of thinking he had chosen his own life over that of his brother's was strong, Fay felt weak, but he would overcome it to get his twin back. But he was only further reminded of this weakness when the one person he had grown to trust snapped; King Ashura went crazy, murdering countless innocents that Fay had sworn to his King that he would protect. He couldn't kill his King, instead King Ashura was placed in a deep sleep and Fay ran.

Fay runs from his problems, and avoids questions at all costs, but the loneliness of his soul sometimes seeps through, in the past he has openly admitted to Kurogane that he had been waiting a long time for someone to come and save him, take him away from everything. In a sense, Fay needed saving from himself and he knew it. He had just about given up on life, but not enough to just fade away, if someone killed him that would have been okay - it meant that fate had decided to save him from dooming the lives of his friends. He would have to die alone however, because his companions - friends by this time - could not die, he cared for them too much to let them wither away alongside him.

These thoughts unsettled him, but not visibly so until Kurogane questioned his actions one too many times. Fay broke, but came back with a resolve that he would continue no matter what happened, as Kurogane had said, his past didn't count, it was what he did with his future that would matter.

Fay was willing to sacrifice his life so that his friends could continue safely on in their quest, and he was fine with this because again it meant that fate could be altered and his past could never catch up to him. Fay knew that if he died his magic - half of it now in the possession of Syaoran's clone, hell bent on recovering all of Sakura's memories, regardless of the dire consequences - would also die, making clone!Syaoran less of a threat to his friends. However, Kurogane was hearing none of it and chose to save Fay's life against the magician's will, a move that caused Fay to distance himself from the ninja despite their lives now being forever intertwined.

It wasn't because he hated Kurogane that Fay forced a gap between them, but that he could never forgiven him, and neither could he forgive himself. All of the silly nicknames and all of the harmless teasing had actually bound them closer together, and now with Fay's life tied to the very man fate had deemed his opponent it was too much. They could be no closer. And although it hurt, Fay continued to push away, coming to Kurogane only when he needed and keeping a civil front only so as not to upset the children. Instead, his bond with Sakura deepened, he saw some change within her and they became a pillar of strength for one another. Fay became much more serious and fiercely protective of his companions, saying that he wouldn't let anyone hurt them anymore. He became closed off again, but not guarded this time by fake smiles and laughter, instead he made it very clear that he did not wish to be pressed.

ABILITIES/CUT DOWN:
- High-level magic, although it's been halved since the loss of his right eye - the blue colour of his iris is the source of his magical power.

CUT DOWN: His remaining magic probably halved again, so he has a quarter of what he once hand. Enough to sense other magic users, spells and the like, but he won't use it, he has no reason to.

- Vampire. Extra strength and speed. His major senses have all been sharpened, explaining why he can fight without the handicap of having a blind spot. Comes with fangs and long, sharp, pointy claws~

CUT DOWN: Strength & abilities a little initially, perhaps with training/feeding he can regain full-strength?

- Likeness to a battle mage. Previous to becoming Vamp!Fay, Kurogane (in an official character guide) ranked Fay as 400/500 for his fighting abilities, however this says nothing of his magical abilities. He is well trained in defence, defending both himself and another party, very well trained in offence in spells (though seldom used), and weapons. He is capable of fighting long to mid to close range attack styles, including use of throwing knives, bow and arrows, and staff weapons. He possesses a form of hand-to-hand combat that is very graceful and fluid, almost a dance between the two combatants. Vampire qualities aside Fay was fast and nimble beforehand, the change has made him even more so. And since becoming a vampire it can be noted that he is more direct with his attacks.

CUT DOWN: Again, tying in with what he can do as a vampire, I would say weakened, but it's within his reach to train himself back up to a high level, if he were to choose. Right now however, he is more likely to rely on his abilities as a vampire, any attacks on his person will be dealt with in a short, sharp and <s>sweet</s> quick manner.

SAMPLES
THIRD PERSON:
Fay inhaled like he'd resurfaced from a great body of water, breathing in a lung-full of crushing, cold air as he awoke. The shock of it had brought him into a sitting position, one hand clutched to his panting chest. "Wha...what?" Fay asked the night air as his breathing calmed.

He stood on weighted legs, realising now that not only was the night air chill, but that his clothes were damp from having lain on the water logged concrete for who-knows how long.

How had he gotten outside?

No - Fay took in the surroundings of the dark, abandoned square - Mokona hadn't transported them anywhere.

His mind was sleep addled and sluggish, a drunken sensation he'd felt only once before, and even then it had been make-believe. But it wasn't just him that felt off, the air here too - different from Infinity - was heavy, laden with magic, thick with blood, and...something else.

He remembered his dream, Chii's last communication to him and tensed, but this wasn't... Fay couldn't....

No. Any presence of Ashura's would not manage to slip by him, the King was not here. The blond relaxed, he could breath easy for now.

He slipped out of the damp, black jacket, his wrist catching on the sleeve as he did so. Curious. He wore no watch today. He peeled back the slightly soggy sleeve of his shirt to reveal what could have been mistaken for a watch, except it bore no hands, just a blank face. It quickly lost his interest however, as his thoughts moved on to the whereabouts of the others. Then he heard voices, jovial but faint, Fay could barely make out their location for the sound of too much bath water in his ears. Still, he moved in the general direction as silently and cautiously as he could with his suddenly awkward feeling body.

He was alone and this place didn't strike him as particularly welcoming to strangers. For now, he would watch and learn from the shadows.

FIRST PERSON:

Well now, this is new.

ANYTHING ELSE? EGADS HI! First Person post was short. Woefully so. Alas, Fay's not much in the mood for spouting his inner monologue just right now D: Damp kitty is damp.

<s></s>PLAYER
NAME: Sho
PERSONAL LJ: boojums_snark
EMAIL/MESSENGER(S): email: s [dot] r [dot] mcclurg @ ntlworld [dot] com / AIM: Celtic Tink

CHARACTER
NAME: Fay D. Flourite
FANDOM: Tsubasa: RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE [anime & manga series by CLAMP]
TIMELINE PERIOD: After the 'death' of Sakura in Nihon Country.

BACKGROUND: Fay, born Yuui, is a twin (although, his brother is actually the one truly named Fay.) The twins were born to the royal family's second prince, a highly anticipated birth that would bring the prince a son. However, twins were born; a very bad omen in the snow country of Valeria. Soon after the birth their Father, the second prince, died, their Mother committed suicide out of guilt of having given birth to them and the country its self suffered many misfortunes.

When together the twin's magical powers rivalled that of the current king, and this was seen as a threat. The king, the children’s grandfather, decided that by making the children as miserable as possible would be a sure-fire way to break the curse destroying his country. He gave the brothers an ultimatum, kill each other or be locked away until the world's end. Since neither brother would kill the other, the twins were confined to a tower in a place where magic didn't work and time never flowed. Separated, Fay was imprisoned at the top of the tower and Yuui at the bottom in a deep, inescapable pit. Despite the brothers unhappy and desperate situation a plague continued to ravish the country of Valeria. Bodies of the dead were dumped into the pit where Yuui was imprisioned. Yuui tried in vain to pile the bodies on top of one another so he could climb to the top of the tower, to Fay. In time, the King became insane; he executed every other living soul in Valeria and then jumped into the pit himself, and committed suicide in front of a terrified Yuui but not before reminding Yuui that they were the reason for his countries misfortune and that they were now forever going to pay for their sin by being the only living people in the whole country.

Months and years passed, the twins aged, their magic keeping them alive despite lack of food and nourishment. Eventually, Fei Wong Reed appeared from another dimension, he offered to save one of them. Fay choose to save Yuui, this resulted in Fay being thrown from the tower into the pit. Fei Wong tampered with Yuui's memories to make him think that he had chosen to save himself at the cost of his brother's life, allowing Fei Wong to use Yuui's guilt in order to turn him into his servant. In order to bring his twin back to life, Yuui allowed Fei Wong to bestow two curses upon him, one of which was removed from Yuui's memory. Fei Wong then told Yuui that someone would free him from the valley, and that he would have to go on a journey, protecting "a princess" (Sakura), and killing any obstacles along the way. Fei Wong then tells Yuui that when he finds a magical feather, he should put it into Fay's body to prevent it from rotting, and that he should begin his journey when he finds a second feather, which he should give to Sakura.

The first of the two curses would cause him to kill anyone processing a greater magical power than his own. The second curse was removed from his memory because Fei Wong felt he had no need to remember it.

Later, King Ashura came to Valeria from another world in order to retrieve Yuui and took him to Celes. Ashura asked Yuui what his name was, he responded ‘Fay’. He was given the last name of ‘Flourite’ a precious mineral in Celes, and Fay eventually earned the title ‘D’, which was given to the highest ranking magician in Celes. Yuui became Fay D. Flourite. He found the two feathers Fei Wong had told him about whilst helping villagers during an avalanche. With one he decided to create a person, a friend in his mother’s image; Chii.

Ashura tutored Fay in magic, and was generally very kind and understanding about the boy’s dark past. When Fay discovered that he could only learn "magic that kills people" he was upset, it was Ashura who told him that with his smile he held the ability to heal others. In exchange for everything that he had done for him, Ashura asked Fay to promise that he would eliminate anyone who threatened Celes.

Because of the first curse Fei Wong had implanted on Fay, Ashura placed a seal on Fay’s body in the form of a Phoenix tattoo. The tattoo would surpress Fay’s magical power from growing any further, and though Fay protested, Ashura told him that Fay's first curse would break after it was fulfilled once, and he wanted to be the one that Fay would kill. Ashura then erased what he had told him from Fay's memory.

More years went by, and a mysterious and deadly monster began to kill people in the village. Fay swore that he would kill the beast, but found out that the beast, the monster, was none other than Ashura; the King who had been so kind and gentle to him. Fay blamed himself, thinking the curse of the twins had followed him. Ashura told him that when he kills, his magic grows, and that he had always known that one day he would become a killer. Fay realized that Ashura had brought him under his care for the sole purpose of killing him when he reached this state. But he was unable to do it, despite the promise he had made Ashura. Instead, Fay cast a spell on the King, placing him in a deep sleep. However, the spell wouldn’t hold forever, the King would eventually awaken. Fay fled from Celes, leaving Chii guarding Ashura, so he would never have to face his King again. Using his magic Fay teleported himself to the Dimensional Witch where his journey of travelling the worlds with Kurogane, Syaoran, Sakura and Mokona would begin.

At the beginning to their travels Fay refused to use his magic, wary now that the Phoenix tattoo seal that Ashura had given him was gone (taken by the Dimensional Witch as his fee for his wish ‘to never return home’). He wouldn’t even use his magic to save his own life, he did however, break his abstinence when the other’s lives were in danger. In Neo Tokyo, he used his magic once again to try and reseal the living heart of Clone Syaoran, but ultimately he fails. The clone then proceeds to eat Fay's left eye, which contained half of Fay's magic, saying he needed Fay's powers in order to get Sakura's feathers for himself. Brought to the brink of death from the shock of losing one eye, Fay resisted attempts to save himself, reasoning that the clone would be unstoppable with his powers, but that the magic would perish if Fay died.

Fay's request to die was ignored by Kurogane, who saved him by following Yuuko's (the Dimensional Witch) advice. Fay was fed Kamui's blood and turned into a vampire, one with accelerated healing abilities but who needed to consume blood to survive (because of Fay’s magical powers his life span was already lengthened, being a vampire has a similar effect but in this case, did not effect Fay greatly). Because it was Kurogane's wish and not Fay's that he should live, from that point on Kurogane was responsible for Fay's life: the blood Fay received was mixed also with Kurogane's blood, so that Fay could only feed from him. Fay decided to never forgive Kurogane for this, he dropped all of the silly nicknames he had for the ninja and distanced himself. Fay confessed to Yuuko that he hadn’t realised just how close the two of them had gotten, and he said that if he were to forgive Kurogane for saving his life, they would become even closer.

After these events Fay withdrew into himself, no longer was he the bubbly, happy-go-luck one. He smiled less and became very distant and formal towards the others. Sakura was the exception, whose mood too, after the events of Neo Tokyo had become dark. Fay grew close to her in their mutual suffering and pledged his unwavering loyalty to the princess. She confided her secret wish to him, and Fay kept it without asking any further questions of her.

During a battle tournament in Infinity Fei Wong’s first curse upon Fay became activated. Seemingly possessed, Fay stabbed Sakura after she received two additional feathers. Yuuko stated that the additional feathers had increased Sakura's magic, therefore surpassing Fay's halved magic. However, Sakura had seen this in a vision, and had made a wish to Yuuko to prevent herself from dying: her body was taken to Celes and her soul to a dream world.

It was revealed that Fay had lied to the group on several occasions. He lied about the whereabouts of two of the feathers; the first one, which he seemingly removed from Syaoran's clothing when they had met at Yuuko’s shop, had actually come with him from Celes. The other one was the one he had used to make Chii, which he pretended to know nothing about. After this revelation, he resolved to return to Celes in order to save Sakura's body, but a price had to be paid for the four of them to go to a specific country. Fay offered up everything that could be seen with his right eye in order to return to Celes, meaning that he would go blind. To prevent this, everyone agrees to offer up a fourth of the price by handing over their tournament money. Fei Wong Reed, who had secretly been watching the group stateed that Fay was supposed to have stabbed Syaoran after the latter regained his original powers, but Sakura foresaw all of this and created a situation to activate Fay's curse before that happened. He also revealed that even though Fay's first curse was now broken, he has yet another curse which would only work in Celes.

Upon their arrival in Celes, Ashura who had awoken after the de-creation of Chii, used his magic to show Syaoran, Kurogane, and Mokona visions of Fay's tragic past. This caused Kurogane to attack Ashura and Fay. Fay was horrified that his comrades now knew the extent of his secret keeping and betrayal, but he decided to fight back with magic to protect Ashura, and also because of his vow not to die before he had saved his brother. The two engaged in a fierce battle, and in the mayhem, Kurogane damaged the body of Fay's twin, and in that moment of weakness, managed to overpower Fay. Kurogane demanded Ashura to tell him why he had showed them Fay's memories, Ashura responded by saying that he only wanted Fay to "grant his wish" and kill him. Ashura launched vicious spells against Fay's comrades in order to force his former mages hand; during the attacks Kurogane’s right side became injured. Angry, Fay attacked Ashura, retrieved Sakura's body, and placed her with Syaoran for protection. Fay decided to kill Ashura for the sake of both their wishes, but Fay's lack of a will to live and the loss of his eye prevented him from fighting at his full strength. Eventually Ashura overpowered him, and tried to kill Syaoran and Sakura in order to draw out his true power. However, Kurogane intercepted the attack and stabbed Ashura with his sword, killing the King. The feather in Fay's brother's body then showed Fay the true reason for his death, not the lie Fei Wong had fed him. The feather returns to Sakura's body and the corpse of Fay disintegrated, he was finally at peace.

Just when Mokona began to transport the group to the next world, Fay's second curse activated because he was not the one to killed Ashura. The curse caused Fay's magic to create a form of cage, effectively trapping the group in Celes. Fay then told everyone that his magic did not get stronger the more he used it - in fact, the more he used magic, the closer he was to death; as his magic is being used up by the second curse, and as he tried to combat the curse’s spell blood spilled from his mouth, he was slowly dying. With everyone unable to transport to another world, Fay attempted to use the last of his magic to transport his comrades, intending to sacrifice himself in order to save them. However, due to his halved magic, Fay was only able to transport Sakura, Syaoran, and Mokona. Using a magic earring Mokona wears, Syaoran created a hole in the sphere where Fay and Kurogane were trapped, but Fay's curse was using him as the spell's anchor, meaning Fay could not leave. Since Fay had used up all his magic in evacuating the others, Kurogane cut off his own left arm, which Fay had cast magic on earlier (when he sealed Souhi - Kurogane’s sword - to his left hand), and left it behind in the sphere in exchange for Fay.

In Nihon country, the next world, Fay punched Kurogane, smiled, and playfully told him that it was for revenge. The nicknames were back. Fay then traded his remaining magic to Yuuko in exchange for a false arm for Kurogane, because Fay lives off of his vampire blood, he did not lose his sight or die from offering up the last of his magic. His eye colour changed from blue (Fay said it was the colour of his eyes that contained the magic) to gold. Originally his eyes were only gold when he was in his vampire form.

Later, when Sakura is killed during the two Syaoran's battle, he revealed that he knew Sakura was a clone from the very beginning, Fei Wong having been the one who told him all of this when they first met. He then offers to go with Syaoran and Kurogane to save both Sakuras.

SAMPLES
THIRD PERSON: Fay strolled off the ship, one hand raised shielding his eye from the bright sun. It was beautiful in anyone’s books despite the rude awakening and throngs of people now barging past him, the view alone made up for the bumped head entirely.

He waited at the bottom of the ramp for the others until the very last souls had left the ship and its crew had begun all of their nightly checks and the ramp was pulled up. It was dusk now and they still hadn’t joined up. It wasn’t unheard of for them to be separated upon arriving in a new world, but this extended absence was odd, not to mention the nagging feeling that told him something was wrong.

They couldn’t afford for something like this to happen now. They had to find Sakura-chan, both of them. Fay tutted and kicked a small pebble into the harbour waters. The night breeze blew in from the sea, chilling the air; Fay pulled his hood up and dug his hands into the fur-lined pockets of his warm coat, deep in his thoughts he set off towards the city.

It would be pointless to search for the others at night, he would find somewhere to rest, perhaps gather some information, as he doubted very much whether he would be able to sleep, not while the fate of their mission hung in the unknown.

NOTES: Fay needs his Kuro-puu to live! Someone apply please~!
